About the Panelists:
Rene Griemens
Rene, CFO of Volocopter (www.volocopter.com), started his career in investment banking at Citibank and consulting for McKinsey & Co. in the 1990s. Subsequently, he first entered the startup world in 2000 as CFO of Berlin-based dooyoo.com. After dooyoo he co-built IEG – Investment Banking, a mid-cap corporate finance boutique. Until 2018, Griemens was CFO at Kreditech, where he helped increase its valuation thirtyfold and raised USD 600 million in equity and debt. Throughout his career he participated in over 80 different financing and M&A transactions as well as two IPO processes.
Rob Wiesenthal
Since July 2015, Mr. Wiesenthal has served as founder and Chief Executive Officer of Blade Urban Air Mobility, Inc., a technology enabled short-distance aviation company and the largest arranger of helicopter flights in and out of city centers in the United States. From January 2013 to July 2015, Mr. Wiesenthal served as Chief Operating Officer of Warner Music Group Corp., a leading global music conglomerate. From 2000 to 2012, Mr. Wiesenthal served in various senior executive capacities with Sony Corporation, most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sony Corporation of America.
Ramey Layne
Ramey’s principal areas of practice are capital markets, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions. He has a particular focus on transactions relating to Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs) and publicly traded master limited partnerships (MLPs). He represents both issuers and underwriters in public and private securities offerings. Ramey has advised clients on general corporate matters, public company reporting issues, restructuring of partnerships, and reporting obligations in connection with acquisition and disposition of partnership securities. Additionally, Ramey advises clients on Investment Company Act of 1940 avoidance.
Trevor Woods
Trevor is a private consultant who advises on aviation and safety management. He previously spent seven years at the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) where he was Certification Director and Flight Standards Director. Before that, he was Chief Operating Officer at Air Safety Support International Limited and held senior roles at the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
