About the Speakers
Kevin Mayer
Kevin Mayer, strategic advisor at Forest Road Acquisition Corp., is a former top executive at The Walt Disney Company overseeing its international Direct-to-Consumer business which included global streaming platforms, Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu. Mr. Mayer architected the development and successful rollout of Disney+ that today has over 100M subscribers. Prior to that role, Mr. Mayer served as Chief Strategy Officer for Disney, where he oversaw and executed major acquisitions including Pixar, Marvel, Lucas Film, Bamtech, and 21st Century Fox.
Most recently, Mr. Mayer served as CEO of TikTok and COO of its parent company, ByteDance–driving one of the greatest disruptions in social media history helping steer the world’s fourth largest social media platform with nearly 700M users.
Mr. Mayer currently serves as Chairman of DAZN Group, a leading global sports streaming service. He is on the Board of the Forest Road Company and a Strategic Advisor to Forest Road Acquisition Corp., a special acquisition company, which recently announced a three-way merger to create the premier at-home connected fitness platform trading under the ticker, $BODY. Mr. Mayer is also an advisory board member at Salesforce and Access Industries. Mr. Mayer is also on the board of Tinuiti, a performance marketing agency.
Mr. Mayer holds a BS in mechanical engineering from MIT, an MS in electrical engineering from San Diego State University, and an MBA from Harvard University.
Carl Daikeler
Carl Daikeler is Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Beachbody Company, a leader in digital at-home fitness and nutrition with a 20+ year record of creating innovative content and powerful brands.
A sought-after direct marketing executive early in his career, Carl shifted his focus entirely to fitness and weight loss creating the surprise breakout hit, “:08 Minute Abs”, and recognizing the enormity of the in-home fitness content opportunity. Under his leadership, Beachbody was the first to forecast a future where the home would become the dominant and legitimate fitness and nutrition hub. With some of the most consistent success using direct marketing to acquire customers, and the earliest of social-media influencer networks, Carl uses an empirical approach to develop product, test, learn, revise and rollout. From inception Carl was focused on ensuring that Beachbody offered the total solution to healthy weight loss and fitness by incorporating meal planning, appropriate supplementation, and community.
Leveraging his extensive product marketing and direct response experience, Carl has led the creation of the most comprehensive catalogs of compelling fitness and nutrition content in the industry, with over 1,400 unique streaming videos from world-renowned experts. The Beachbody model integrates supplements – such as the Shakeology® line of superfood protein supplements— and a peer-support system of over 400,000 Team Beachbody Coaches.
Carl also runs the Beachbody Foundation which has contributed over 10 million dollars to various organizations including International Justice Mission, Hope Of The Valley, NAACP, The Lakota Tribe, Upward Bound House, Go Campaign, and Save-A-Warrior (SAW), among others.
Driven by his background in theater, in his spare time Carl is an active producer of multiple Broadway productions, winning two Tony Awards for Hadestown and the revival of Once On This Island. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
Sue Collyns
Sue Collyns is President and Chief Financial Officer of The Beachbody Company, where she leads financial management and plays a critical role in managing all strategic, M&A and capital raise initiatives. Since joining Beachbody in 2014, she has helped transform the Company’s subscription based model, increasing subscriber growth more than 10x to 2.6M.
Sue has over three decades of technical expertise in finance, operations, strategy, technology, digital and consumer products and has held various financial positions at Sony/BMG Entertainment, Lion/Pepsi, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Prior to Beachbody, she served as co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Dun and Bradstreet Credibility Corp. (DBCC), a successful technology start-up. Prior to that, she spent 10 years as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Company Secretary for California Pizza Kitchen (CPK).
Sue has received several prestigious awards, including Women Inc.’s “Most Influential Corporate Board Directors” in 2019, Board Circle’s “CFO of the Year” in 2014, Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ)’s “CFO of the Year” in 2013, and LABJ’s “Executive of the Year” in 2011.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Dine Brands Global, and formerly served as a Director and Audit Committee Chair of Zoe’s Kitchen (NYSE: ZOES) and WAITR (NASDAQ: WTRH), respectively, as well as on the Board and Audit Committee of Potbelly Sandwich Shop (NASDAQ: PBPB).
Sue holds a Bachelor of Economics and Finance degree from Macquarie University, Australia, where she graduated with high distinction. She also holds a postgraduate CPA from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia, and was awarded Fellow Membership of CPA Australia in 2019. Born and raised in Australia, Sue played various competitive sports in school, and now, when she’s not home in Los Angeles with her husband and three children, she is passionate about traveling and staying fit.
