IPO Edge Editor-in-Chief John Jannarone joined Schwab Network’s Nicole Petallides on Jan. 7 to discuss the increasing pipeline of IPOs in the market at the end of 2025, with 2026 expected to surpass it.
Mr. Jannarone said he expects the debuts of Kraken and OpenAI, as well as SpaceX, Anthropic and Huntress. He also noted that 2025 had $44 billion in IPOs led by a 25% increase in private equity-backed deals, with blockchain and AI prevailing as the main sectors.
Mr. Jannarone also mentioned how capital raises from names like Anthropic and why private equity markets are “red hot,” recommending caution for investors as these companies continue searching for more funding in the public market.
He noted that institutional investors will likely take profits in companies that are raising considerable capital, which might not leave much left for retail investors. Mr. Jannarone also pointed out successful cases of smaller blockchain companies such as AlphaTON Capital Corp. (Nasdaq: ATON) as investing alternatives.
